Imitation is the highest form of flattery. But in the form of parody it can be the toughest to pull off.
But the “Trocks” do it well; very, very well. And why do they do it so well? Because these guys can actually dance. And it’s darned near impossible to do this type of satire well without the under-lying skill, in this case, ballet.
Portraying both male and female roles, the all-male corps pokes fun at the formal technique and clichés of romantic and classical ballet. The dancers wear the traditional pointe shoes and tutus of this art form to further emphasize the humor.
