Paul Taylor’s technique is characterized by the use of natural gestures we use throughout the day. Rather than using specific dance movements, he uses body language to express emotions and the complexities of human interactions.
In Taylor’s choreography he addresses issues such as sexuality, morality, war and spirituality but also brings warmth and excitement to his masterpieces.
The founder of one of the first American modern dance companies to tour America, Taylor, now in his 80s, continues to this day to contribute to and to inspire the world of dance.
I hope you enjoyed this video as much as I enjoyed seeing the Paul Taylor Dance Company for the first time back in the 70s. Feel free to share with others who will enjoy it as well.
Paul Taylor, the last living choreographer of the masters that brought modern dance to America.
Recorded at the Theatre National de chaillot in Paris in 2012, this DVD included two ballets. Brandenburgs, set to Bach’s Brandenburg Concertos and Beloved Renegadem. Beloved Renegadem is set to Poulenc’s Gloria and was inspired by the life and work of Walt Whitman.
