Dance Theater of Harlem, founded and co-directed by Arthur Mitchell, gets its inspiration, courage, and heritage from the people of Harlam.
Choreographed to the rhythmic sound of African instrumentation, this clip opens with two female and one male dancer whose partnering and movements dissolve from one striking, geometric shape to another.
The floor work is some of the loveliest and most unique I’ve seen. Be sure to notice the beautifully executed sequences at 2: 10 and at 2:35.
Dance Theatre of Harlem is now performing again after years of budgetary constraints that kept them from bringing their art to adoring and appreciative audiences. Please like this video, then share with others.
