This folk dance represents the Dai minority in Yunnan Province of southwest China, one of 56 ethnic groups inhabiting China’s expansive land mass and one of great cultural diversity,
Not only are the Dai natives’ dwellings made of bamboo, but Dai folk dances often have names that describe bamboo as well. Is it surprising then that this particular dance reminds us of the graceful, willowy bamboo?
The dancer’s lines, extensions, and control are to be envied. Hypnotic, beautiful, and mesmerizing. Please like then share with others.
NOTE: I believe the dancer is Jiang Tiehong.
