Bad Boys of Dance – trailer

It’s exciting! They’re exciting! Bad Boys of Dance…and their fun, energetic, sexy performances, that is. Now three casts deep and performing throughout the world, Bad Boys is bringing to its audiences a blended style that’s a little bit of classical, partly hip-hop, some jazz and tap thrown in, with street dance and contemporary that round out their choreography. Six men and one “pretty girl of dance”, Thomas’ wife, Adrienne Canterna, bring their love of dance to the stage with a […]

  • Bad Boys of Dance – Düsseldorf, Germany

Bad Boys of Dance – Düsseldorf, Germany

A very sexy Bad Boys of Dance as it celebrated its Dusseldorf premiere in April of 2010.. Talented, athletic, and wildly entertaining, Bad Boys of Dance was founded by Rasta Thomas. In 1998, Thomas, at age 16, was given special permission to enter the senior division of the USA International Ballet Competition. He ended up winning “the gold”, becoming the youngest to win in this division. This distinction was previously held by Mikhail Baryshnikov who won the same award at […]

  • Rock the Ballet – Ne Me Quitte Pas

Rock the Ballet – Ne Me Quitte Pas

Ne Me Quitte pas, Don’t Leave Me, is a beautiful, emotional performance by Bad Boys of Dance. Intense, but controlled energy. At 2’55” you’ll see a rather unusual sequence which I found difficult to relate to given the mood of the piece, however. Very sedate when compared to much of what Bad Boys does. If you enjoy the personal and emotional nature of Ne Me Quitte Pas, please like then share with others.

  • Rock the Ballet – Carmen (dance with blow-up dolls)

Rock the Ballet – Carmen (dance with blow-up dolls)

The title pretty much tells the tale. The blow up doll is an entire industry in and of itself, so it shouldn’t be surprising when those dolls’ feet are set to tappin’…”with a little help from (our) friends”, of course. And that’s exactly what Rock the Ballet has done! This is just, simply put, plain funny. The exaggerated seriousness of the male dancers as they dance with these inert, lifeless inflatables plus the selection of Carmen for music make it […]

  • Bad Boys of Dance – “Ghosts of Things to Come”

Bad Boys of Dance – “Ghosts of Things to Come”

These men, simply put, are talented. They do it all. Jazz, tap, modern, hip hop. And they’re all highly skilled ballet technicians as well. Here we see a quieter, gentler side of Bad Boys in Braham Logan Crane’s “Ghosts of Things to Come.” Ghosts highlights the beauty of movement and the individual dancers’ talents while also giving us a different type of emotion than what we often see from this sexy, fun-loving troupe. Enjoy a stellar performance by a powerful […]

  • Rasta Thomas – Rock The Ballet

Rasta Thomas – Rock The Ballet

Rasta Thomas’ Bad Boys brings “bad” front and center stage as it frees ballet from its centuries-long restraints. Using ballet technique to forge a beauty into jazz, hip hop, and gymnastics otherwise not possible, Bad Boys pushes past the conventional to bring audiences to their feet. Rock The Ballet isn’t just dance, and it certainly isn’t just ballet. In fact, in Rasta Thomas’ own words, “It’s a new type of ballet for the 21st century and we are calling it […]

  • Rasta Thomas – Bad Boys of Dance

Rasta Thomas – Bad Boys of Dance

Bad Boys of Dance, founded by the bad boy of dance himself, Rasta Thomas. Using ballet, jazz, and gymnastics and some of the best talent out there, Bad Boys pushes the limits creatively and physically. Though some in the industry consider Bad Boys too unconventional, there’s little question that Bad Boys is “bad” and brings an excitement to the stage that truly rocks. Audiences simply have fun and leave their performances happy. What more could you ask for. Beautiful hand-painted […]

Rasta Thomas – Man in the Mirrow

Here Rasta Thomas, founder of Bad Boys of Dance, performs to MJ’s Man In The Mirror. There’s something about the choreography and Rasta’s style that reminds me of Baryshnikov in the movie “White Nights.” Maybe it’s the “casual” feel to the choreography and Thomas’ ease of movement. How can anyone not like Rasta Thomas! Please share with others.
